Geraldine

DeKalb County,
Alabama,
United States. At the 2000 census the population was 786.

Geraldine is
located at

According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.1
km² (3.9
mi²).

Demographics
As of the
censusGR2
of 2000, there were 786 people, 351 households, and 230 families residing in
the town. The
population density was 78.0/km² (202.3/mi²). There were 394 housing units
at an average density of 39.1/km² (101.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town
was 97.96%
White, 1.15%
Native American, and 0.89% from two or more races. 0.38% of the population
were
Hispanic or
Latino of any race.
There were 351
households out of which 24.8% had children under the age of 18 living with
them, 52.4% were
married
couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband
present, and 34.2% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of
individuals and 20.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or
older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was
2.81.
I
n the town the
population was spread out with 21.2% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24,
26.5% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 21.4% who were 65 years of age
or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 78.6
males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.4 males.
The median
income for a household in the town was $24,028, and the median income for a
family was $34,583. Males had a median income of $27,083 versus $20,179 for
females. The
